Bounded

With the Nook and Kindle becoming more prominent among readers, I find myself retrogressing to the historical ancestor : leather-bound books. Now, nothing against the electronic books, in fact I would love to get me one of them. But, for some reason, I have become enamored with the old-fashioned, antique look of leather-bound books. I love the texture of the backbone, the engraved gold writing, how structured and unyielding the book is. Great literature is made to last in these books, and last they will.

I also love their contribution to design: home offices, bookcases, libraries. You name it, leather-bound books will not disappoint in adding that hint of sophistication and structure to any niche.

I was looking through the Coveteur and I found a great picture of leather-bound books in Suzanne Roger's home. She's a philanthropist based in Toronto with an AH-mazing fashion collection, and even amazing home. Her clothing and home were featured on the website via some very artful and playful photography. Her style is so lavish and decadent, and I would love to shop her closet anytime, any day.

Take a look at how these Alexander McQueen clutches are creatively placed within her collection of leather-bound books.

How much do I want to recreate this picture with my own (non-existing) collection of leather-bound books and McQueen clutches? A lot.
